So this past Saturday, we celebrated my eldest daughter's sixth birthday! It was Star Wars themed and held at the ice staking rink. Only had about 9 kids show but it ended up being perfect cause we only had so many skate helpers and everyone could have 2 cupcakes! I even gave out cupcakes with Star Wars rings as the goodie bags, along with some chocolate. Later that night, birthday girl and I dressed up as Darth Vadar and Winifred Sanderson to enter the 2nd Annual Cosplay Contest for our cities' Comic Con! We didn't win, some of the costumes were just insane awesome, but we both had so much fun! So many people took my photo or said how much they loved my costume which made me feel so good! I'm already planning how to improve it and debating making my girl enter as Emily Binx with me. Sunday was Easter, and we dyed and hunted eggs at my parents house after having lunch at Logan's Roadhouse, per the birthday girl's request. Once we came home, we did a second hunt with the stuffed eggs I forgot to bring over, and then it was laundry and lunch prep until bed. We also opened presents from us and family, and I spent a good 40mins setting up a Calico Critter Seaside Restaurant. Pics of me as Winifred to come!

It's widespread news now, that after so many decades in business, Toys'R'Us is closing it's doors. While they weren't our first destination, we did shop and stop there frequently, and both my girls attended the in-store birthday celebrations. As the only local big-box store with Calico Critters, I'm sad we're now reduced to Amazon for the deals and our over-priced smaller local chain for products.
Ours was a Babies'R'Us and Toys'R'Us, and when my girls were babies I went here every other week to stock up on food, bottle parts, training cups and more. It was well-maintained, the staff very friendly and items well-stocked. I was aware of the price-matching policy and took advantage of it often, but not excessively so. My sadness stems more from nostalgia, as I'm old enough to remember the jingle, LOL. That, and where else could you find so many toys in one place? I suggest calling your local stores to see what the discounts are and if they've started yet, because ours is still going full price. Be sure to think of gifts, not only for your own kids, but for donating to shelters, foster kids, and for the holidays like Angel Tree and the Salvation Army. IN STORE: Walmart has all their Wonder Woman dolls marked at $5 including the box and sword action models! Plus the Star Wars Forces of Destiny basic dolls are also $5 while the double sets Rey-BB8 and Leia-R2D2 are $13 apiece! There's even a Marvel Mega Collection (11 hero series action figures) for just $40 instead of 90! There were also some items from My Little Pony, a lot of Barbies, and tons of smaller blind boxes and Shopkins.
These are all fabulous deals and I suggest you check them out! ONLINE: Amazon has a ton of Calico Critter items on half off or more as they make way for the new items: including furniture sets, families, and ready-to-play sets. If you're a Frozen Little Kingdom Fan, the Arendelle Traditions set is $8.81and the Olaf Adv Advent Calendar is $9.98 vs $24.99 originally for both! Walmart and Target are also having a sale on Calico Critters so don't wait! I am selling a ton of vintage collection Barbie dolls, both boxed and loose. Also am selling lots of My Little Pony toys, boxed/loose, vintage Disney toys, dragon figurines and much more! This is the link to my current eBay Listings!
Disney's also released most of it's Olaf's Frozen Adventure merchandise and I've selected a few pieces I think are worth mentioning. Please note, I'm not a plush fan so you won't see those from me. Olaf's Adventure Advent Calendar Set, $29.99 at Toys'R'Us, Amazon, and Target, comes with 25 collectible figures and is absolutely adorable! I highly suspect they'd be perfectly sized 12" doll accessories and I may have to get this. Arendelle Traditions Collection Set, $24.99, is Little Kingdom sized, and available at both Toys'R'Us, and Amazon so far. Arendelle's Festive Celebration Playset, $29.99, is also Little Kingdom sized, and avaliable at Toys'R'Us and Target. Festive Friends Collection Set, $49.99 by Hasbro, features the main trio plus Olaf, and is available at Amazon and Toys'R'Us. While nice, I prefer the Disney Store version below! Anna and Elsa Classic Doll Set, $34.95 at the Disney Store, doesn't come with Kristoff but I'm holding out hope for a deluxe set. The costumes are much more detailed and the dolls a better likeness. Olaf's Frozen Adventure Deluxe Figure 10-pc Play Set, $19.95 at Disney Store, is a must for me and I love all the details and new poses! The Deluxe Anna, $69.95, and Deluxe Elsa, $79.95, Costumes from Disney are gorgeous!! If I had the surplus income I'd buy these and even let my girls wear them in Christmas photos! As I expected, already up on the UK Disney Store is the Olaf's Frozen Adventure Singing Doll Set. Priced at $99.95, I fully expect this to hit. With all the character, including Sven and accessories, this is the one to grab!! Finally, there's the Castle of Arendelle Playset, $139.95 coming out on the Disney Store. Beyond collectible and if your child loves this sized toy, it's worth the price tag.
Toys'R'Us is having two doll sales I thought I'd mention.
With the arrival of all the new merchandise for the movie coming out this Friday, it seems a good time to buy for xmas! And the fashion dolls include everything from Disney to Barbie to Enchantimals! LABORWEEK17
This is the code that'll get you $10 off your order of $50 or free shipping. I shopped a bit on Force Friday for the new 3.75" Rey and 12" Hero Series Rey from The Last Jedi and got free shipping. Enough to say. a lot of new My Little Pony and Star Wars merchandise has come out so worth checking the sale! Also, I have a lot of new toys and collectibles listed on my eBay account. Check them out; my prices are reasonable and I take offers! www.ebay.com/sch/muffy2003/m.html?_ipg=48&_sop=12&_rdc=1 Here are my finished furniture pieces reassembled! The majority of the chairs aren’t complete as I have to spray the chair backs kona brown and the kitchen/bathroom cabinet portions satin espresso. Still, I love how everything came out! Is everything as perfect as I’d have liked? Hell no, but my fallback response is it gives the furniture character, hehe. Can you believe almost everything featured here was some shade of pink? My favorites are the “leather” couches and entertainment center (the tape protected the stickers!), fridge, even though you can see the spots I need to fix with a brush, and baby bathtub (and no, I couldn’t remove the ducky, it was taped) My least favorite piece is the toilet because the white bubbled from the sealant too and it looks patchy and dirty in places. I may strip off the paint and try again but I think I’ll wait until the girls really scratch it up before fixing. Overall, I had a blast and I can’t wait to show off the rest once it’s finished! I'm so happy the furniture looks realistic and unique and my eldest saw them this morning before I could stop her, so without giving anything away I let her look at them.
Her happy responses and interest really made my heart sing and I can't wait to share this process with her once she gets older. I had two pieces ready for their second round of paint in another color and a bathroom piece taped and prepped for its first paint round. These pictures really show off the stone sienna spray paint and how awesome it looks! By spraying gently, I was able to keep the stone clumped closer together and don’t worry, a toothpick easily cleared the sink drain holes. These pieces are the kitchen and bathroom counters, while the third with the bulbs taped is the back of the sink. I love how the bathroom backsplash mimics subway tile when white. I'll also have to "paint" stone sienna underneath the faucet as it's missing some.
